Your appointment at the Practice

  • We operate a triage system where appointments are given according to clinical urgency, so that the duty doctor can assess this the admin team will need to ask for information regarding the reason for your appointment, all information is confidential and without it we are unable to triage appropriately.
  • If you would like an emergency appointment then please call on the day from 8:00am
  • We also offer pre-booked appointments that can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance. Please call the surgery and ask for a pre-booked appointment
  • Please make one appointment for each member of the family who needs to be seen
  • We try to keep to time but please be patient if someone before you takes longer than planned
  • It is practice policy to allow patients to choose whichever Doctor they wish to attend in the practice when available
  • We operate a text messaging appointment reminder service. Please ensure we have your correct mobile number and you will be reminded of all appointments by SMS 24 hours beforehand.
  • If you need to use the Interpreting Service please ask the Receptionist to arrange this when making an appointment, as Interpreters must usually be booked in advance of your visit to your GP
  • If someone else is contacting the practice on your behalf, please remind them to ask the receptionist to book an Interpreter

Home Visits

If you think an immediate home visit is required, please tell the Receptionist. In cases of major injury or critical condition, it may be more appropriate to go directly to your local Hospital Accident & Emergency Department. If an Ambulance is required, dial 999.

Our GP Practice is keen to ensure that we make the best use of our clinical staff, allowing them to provide the most appropriate care to those most in need of it. For the vast majority of patients, attending an appointment at the Practice is the best option for them and for the Practice staff.

If you are housebound or so unwell that you cannot attend the surgery for an appointment and need a home visit please telephone the surgery on 020 8986 6341.

The appropriateness of the home visit request will be triaged by the duty doctor

Examples of inappropriately requests include

  • It’s my right to have a home visit: Under the GP terms of service, it is actually up to the doctor to decide, in their reasonable opinion, where a consultation should take place.
  • I should get a visit because I’m old: Our clinical work does not judge based on age alone.
  • I can’t bring my child out in this weather: No-one will be harmed by being wrapped up and brought in to the surgery.
  • The doctor needs to check I’m ready to go into hospital: Paramedics can provide initial lifesaving care, and patients will be cared for appropriately in emergency departments.
  • Can the GP just pop in to see me? We have fully booked surgeries and cannot simply drop everything to visit people at home.
